Before I went Paleo, no matter how much I trained, I can only do about 12 pull-ups in a set. After I went Paleo, within 3 months I was up to about 17 pull-ups in a set. This could be partly explained by the loss of the extra body fat, but my maximum strength in many other weight-lifting exercises have definitely also increased in and of themselves.
Subjectively, I feel more fit now than I have ever been in my life. Like many people, I used to feel embarrassed to take my shirt off because of the way my body looked. Now, I'm at risk of being called a "show-off". All of this despite exercising about 50% less than I used to a few years ago.
One thing I have noticed is that, once my excess body fat has gone away, I actually feel like I want to exercise more.
