Melissa Fritcher's Experience with
Paleo Diet for Irritable Bowel Syndrome

I had IBS symptoms for decades; additionally, I had my gallbladder out in 2004; horrifyingly, I was also on Metformin several times over the course of the last 10 years. To say I had 'issues' with my GI system was an understatement. I've spent years in the restroom, dumping food moments after I ate it, in pain, backed up/impacted. It really started to impact my weight and health - when you lose your lunch within 20 minutes of eating it, you don't get much nutrition, and you're Fing hungry again! Nothing helped. Until I went Primal and gave up legumes and grains. If it wasn't such a icky thing to discuss, I'd shout it from the rooftops. The freedom! The lack of pain, accidents, the regulation of appetite, getting nutrients and gaining strength! I also started regrowing hair I'd been losing. I can't say enough about how much Primal/Paleo has helped me. The IBS is only the tip of the iceberg.

My daughter and I started eating a well balanced paleo plan August 2011 because of her unknown GI disorder and being hospitalized 73 times in 2010, I wanted to see if eating paleo would help keep her home more.
Through multiple diagnostics, we discovered that her body simply could note process grains. Grains ended up as sludge and sat in her GI tract clogging up the works resulting in hospitalizations to "Roto Router" her her Gi tract.
After starting the Paleo eating plan 8 months ago, her overall abdominal pain left and she is joyous and youthful most of the time. She still has all her body parts! And last week she was finally diagnosed as having IBS.
Paleo has worked very well for both of us. I got rid of 58 pounds, am no longer diagnosed with diabetes, fibromyalga, chronic fatigue, and no fit nicley into a size 8/10. WOW...
My question to all of you with GI dissoroders is how does insoluable fiber effect IBS? we only eat organic since pesticides and preservatives create so much choas in the body and we also only eat fresh nothing processed. It is a running joke amoung our friends that we all have an extra linen closet in our kitchens since none of us eat non parishable foods any longer.
Breakfast is Organic uncurred turkey bacon, vegetables and guacamolie
Lunch is chicken, veggies, fruit, and guacamolie
Dinner is lamb fruit and veggies, and guacamolie What a joy it is to eat as much guac as you want. It also gives my daughter the fat she needs since she has so many allergies. i am attempting to get some weight on her since we eat sooooooooooooooooo healthy.
Throughout the day we drink wonderful smoothies made with my Blendtec so we are drinking the WHOLE FOOD instead of just the juice so we are getting the fiber the body needs.
Any of you who have constipation IBS or mixed IBS and eat Paleo that would like to comment I would like to hear from you.
